in Baiting Hollow

This iconic wine has notes of olive brine

Under the direction of Josep and Antoni “Ton” Mata Casanovas the grapes are hand harvested and all cellar work is done by hand

The grapes are from the Protea Hights farm which began life in the 1940's as a farm for South Africa's national flower

Black Estate Riesling "Damsteep" 2017 London The wine was pressed into100% Riesling (2. 2 hectare vineyard, planted in 1999) Certified organic (BioGro) with biodynamic practices Winemaker: Nicholas Brown 85% foot crushed with 4 18 hour skin contact. Pressed to stainless steel tanks and 15% neutral barrel. Fermented with a natural yeast starter propagated from the vineyard site. Aged 9 months on lees before bottling.
